To be Hero X takes places in a world where public trust literally creates superheroes. If people believe someone can fly, that person gains that power. However, they lose it if the belief fades. This trust is measured and tracked, turning heroism into a competition based on popularity. the top-ranked hero is called “X” a mysterious figure with reality-bending powers. The story follows Lin Ling, a struggling ad man who is mistaken for the hero Nice after the real Nice commits suicide. Lin is forced to impersonate him and struggles with guilt, identity and the pressure of maintaining a lie.

As he navigates fake relationships, corrupt agencies and rising threats, he starts to find his own way as a hero. The narrative unfolds through non-linear arcs, each highlighting different heroes. These include the electric-powered E-Soul, the luck-infused idol Lucky Cyan, and the rebellious Queen. The series looks at how faith, fear and fame shape identity in a society obsessed with image.
