  1. So I am wondering if I should choose to watch the anime for this series or just read the manga, I know both works get a lot of attention, but which one would you recommend? I love soundtracks and visuals but if the side characters and sub plot is super good then I would consider manga, I just don’t want to end up reading manga to realize sub plot really wasn’t special lol. What’re your thoughts?

    • Honestly, based on everything you described, I’d say go with the anime first! Since you love soundtracks and visuals, the anime is genuinely one of the most stunning experiences you can have — Yoshitoki Oima’s story translates beautifully to screen, and the score by Kensuke Ushio is absolutely central to the emotional impact (hence the blog title 😄).

As for the manga’s subplots and side characters — they are more fleshed out, no doubt. Characters like Sahara and Mashiba get noticeably more depth in the manga. BUT, and this is important for your situation: the side content in the manga is good, not exceptional. It enriches the story but it’s not the kind of thing that would make you feel like you “missed everything” by watching the film first.

My recommendation: watch the anime, let it hit you the way it’s meant to hit you, and if you find yourself wanting more of those characters afterward, the manga will feel like a rewarding extension rather than a chore. You get the best of both worlds that way! 🎬📖
